Dr. Danny Avalos is a double board-certified gastroenterologist practicing in Aventura and Homestead, FL. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Avalos then went on to complete a gastroenterology clinical research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida and his internal medicine residency at the University of Miami/JFK Medical Center. He then completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As a gastroenterology trainee, he was awarded the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Visiting Fellow Award at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Avalos continues to stay at the forefront of research, having published over 40 peer-reviewed articles on topics including colon cancer prevention, hepatitis C eradication, inflammatory bowel diseases, and motility disorders. He has also contributed to book chapters on inflammatory bowel diseases and motility disorders.
He serves as an assistant professor at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish.
